How it works

Appify is a new way to learn what everyone's favorite apps are for everything in the world. It works like a big, open, party conversation: anyone can ask a question to the group, anyone can jump in and answer that question, and anyone can forward that question to someone specific who they want to hear answer the question. Along the way as the questions get answered, everyone involved builds a public profile of what their own favorite apps are for everything - which you can then follow along with to see what new and great apps they're discovering as they go.

When it is all in motion, it adds up to fast and easy-to-use feeds that show you the best new apps for everything imaginable.

It works with iPhone only right now. We'll get other platforms in as soon as we can.

Here's how it works, quickly:

1. Ask questions.

What do you want to know about apps? Ask any question using the Question Box at the top of the home page. That question goes on Appify's home page for everyone to answer or forward to others.

2. Forward questions.

Is there someone in particular you want to answer a question? Enter their Twitter username into the Forward Box next to the question and Appify will direct it to them specifically. Even if they aren't signed up for Appify yet, we'll get your question to them for them to answer.

3. Answer questions.

You can answer your own questions, or answer questions that have been forwarded to you, or answer questions that you have nothing to do with. You answers will appear in the list of apps for that question, as well as in the list on your user page.

4. "Like" apps.

Like an app that someone else has added to a list? Click the "like" button next to it and it will be copied to your list of apps on your page. It will also increase the ranking of that app in that particular list.

5. Browse.

And of course if you don't want to ask or answer or forward or like, you can just follow along with what other people are talking about, and learn about what's what is the world of apps.

Appify with Twitter

Appify is synched to Twitter in a couple of ways, making it easy to do some fun and useful things on Appify from your Twitter account. You can:

Ask questions to Appify from Twitter:

Direct any app-related question you want to ask Appify to @appify. If it's a question, we'll grab it and post it to the home page on Appify for everyone to answer. We'll also retweet it from @appify for everyone following along to reply to.

Answer questions on Appify from Twitter:

See a question from @appify you've got an answer to? Reply to @appify\ with the name of the app, and (optionally) your comment about that app, and we'll add that to the discussion.

Questions + Answers together on Twitter

You can also ask a question and answer it all in one tweet to Appify, if that's what you like to do. You do it with a colon like so:

@appify my favorite app: findfruit. great to be able to eat my way through Brooklyn!

@appify best app for NYC: Spokes NYC

We'll grab the question, match it to one already asked (or ask it |for you if it hasn't been asked yet) and then file your answer into that question all at once.

Note: you have to have activated your account on Appify by signing in before we can process any of these answers.
